1st Ever LA DanceFit Dance Recital

1st Ever LA DanceFit Dance Recital

Every week I share my passion for dance and fitness with incredible men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes, and they give it their all in every Dancinerate class. They’re asked to treat every class as though there was an audience seeing them strut their stuff, and on May 10 they had an audience: LA DanceFit’s first ever Dance Recital!

Upon hearing about this recital my students said they wanted to participate and, remembering how it felt to perform for the very first time, we started rehearsing the next day!

When preparing for the recital we focused on three new and different routines, using the regular Dancinerate class experience as our theme and allowing the audience a look into what it’s like being in one of my classes from warm up to cool down.

During our first rehearsal some of the team felt anxious about the new choreography. I reminded them just how amazing they all are and how much they can accomplish by working together. We rehearsed together for ten hours in one week and, to show how committed they were to the performance; they even got together without me to practice with one another.

A couple days prior to the recital my new clothing line arrived and I asked my students if they wanted to pick a tank or tee to wear during the recital and everyone said yes, picking their favorite for the show. (For a sneak peak and special PRE-ORDER pricing, check out SHOP ILYSE )

As we waited off-stage before our performance I was like a proud mom, touched by the team, their love for Dancinerate and their love for each other. They were ROCK STARS and the crowd went wild (video footage to follow once when we get it)!

The results of the recital left me on Cloud 9! As a team we all pulled together and gave a great performance, and when I got home I received emails and messages from a half dozen students telling me what a great time they had and how much they appreciated what the group accomplished. Here’s just one comment I received from a dancer: “The day was life-changing for me. I’ve run countless races and even finished a full marathon, but nothing compared to the feeling of performing on that stage. The euphoria from working out was magnified by 1000 as I did something I never thought possible. Thank you for pouring yourself into our team.”

MaDonna Grimes: It’s Time To Give Back

MaDonna Grimes: It’s Time To Give Back

How often are you moved by someone: that special someone who inspired you and, regardless of how long it’s been since you’ve last seen or talked with them, is always in your thoughts:  that person who has hit that special spot and who you’ll never forget……..

MaDonna Grimes is that person for me.  I was fortunate to meet MaDonna when I was in college and she was friends with Patti Palese, one of my dance teachers. I was visiting in LA and attended one of MaDonna’s dance classes at a Bally’s; the way she taught really opened up my eyes to how a great dance instructor could really inspire people.  We kept in touch, and when I moved to LA she hired me as a dance teacher in her Hollywood studio and then on her dance team, where I was able to dance all over the world.

Like she has dozens of others, MaDonna has given me opportunity after opportunity, inspired me to always be better and always go after my dreams.  And now it’s time to give back!

Two months ago MaDonna found out she inherited Colon-rectal cancer from her late grandmother and, although she has health insurance, needs help to pay for what will be very expensive surgery. I’m excited to be a part of a group of people who know and love MaDonna and are coming together with and for her to help Dance Away Cancer.

On May 5th an All-Star Team of LA Fitness Pros will celebrate with MaDonna at Crunch Fitness in West Hollywood.  The team includes Me, Petra Kolber, Milo Levell, Michelle Dozois, Patrick Goudeau, Michelle LeMay, Laurie Carpenter, Deb Praver, Kendall Hogan, Star Agreed, Marvin Thornton and many, many more.  This WILL be the “it” place to be and you do not want to miss it.  Spread the word and share away.  There will be a raffle; gift bags plus so much more.  ALL are welcome and, if you live in LA, we want you there to help support MaDonna.

If you don’t live in LA or can’t make it, but want to help this beautiful person BEAT CANCER, you can still be a part of this benefit by clicking and donating here:  http://www.gofundme.com/MaDonnafightingcancer.

Remember that every $1 counts so anything that you can do to help MaDonna fight this cancer will make all the difference.  We all appreciate YOU!!!

See you on MaDonna’s Dance Floor!

I Know It Sounds Crazy, But…Help Me Choreograph The Bachelor’s Wedding Dance!

I Know It Sounds Crazy, But…Help Me Choreograph The Bachelor’s Wedding Dance!

Hello to all you hopeless romantics out there (and yes, that includes Ilyse Baker)!

Monday night about 10 million viewers watched The Bachelor Season 17 finale to see if Sean Lowe was going to get down on one knee to propose to either Catherine Guidici or Lindsay Yenter.  I mean, what woman wouldn’t want to watch one sexy single guy (Hey Hilton, you’re still the sexiest guy I know!) seeking his future wife where the road to true love can be very surprising and even quite steamy?!  Come on…you know we American women buy into Reality TV all the time (how many guys out there are willing to admit they watch the show?  Hands up!)!

Hopeless Romantic

I didn’t get to watch this season from the beginning as I rarely have time for TV.  However, about 3 weeks ago I bonded with my sister Dayna over the show and got hooked.  So, along with ten million others, I invested 3 hours Monday night to find out what Sean would do, and admit shedding tears throughout the show.

Oy, I am such a hopeless romantic!  :)

I loved that Catherine gave Sean little notes here and there telling him what was on her mind.  Not like I’d do anything like that; right Hilton!?!  :)

My Fantasy

I’m so enamored with this couple that I fantasized “what can I do to help them?” and decided I wanted to choreograph their wedding dance.  Simple idea, huh? I’m the right person for it, huh?

So, after watching After the Final Rose, where Sean said they were planning a quick wedding, I got right on Twitter to tweet away to Sean and Catherine, congratulating them and also letting them know that I would be happy to choreograph their wedding dance.  Good start…huh?!

Then Tuesday I wake up and see that it was announced on Good Morning America that Sean will be joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars this season with dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd.  Sooo…now what, as I am sure he can get any of the Pros to choreograph for him?  Nooooo nooooo I LOVE my idea and am sticking to it.  Sean will be busy getting incredible training from Peta so who will Catherine have to train her for their big day?  What about her???????  Who will work with her???????

Help Me Help Catherine (and Sean)!

Here’s where you can help! If you agree that Catherine should take dance classes and training from me, it’s just a matter of how I get to Sean and Catherine.  Ok…I am still thinking out of the box about it and trying to work my magic.  In the meantime, all of YOU can help me with this new venture that I am pursuing so here is what I’d like you to do:

1)  Tweet away to: @SeanLowe99 @clmgiudici @chrisbharrison @ABCBachSeanLowe @BachelorABC letting them know that you know someone who would be great as Catherine’s Dance Trainer (yep, me!)

2)  Facebook away:  The Bachelor

3)  Email ABC and all Producers of both The Bachelor and Dancing With The Stars

4)  Comment below on my blog any ideas and feedback

5)  Share and spread the word to all you know

This could be lots of fun for everyone and, if I’m chosen, I’ll share everything I’m allowed with all of my readers so we can all follow this beautiful couple down the aisle and to their wedding day.

Thanks for all your help in helping make Catherine the best wedding dance partner ever!

xoxo,

ILYSE
