National Dance Day 2014

If you would ask me this question: “What do you think everyone should celebrate everyday?” My answer: “Ha, that is easy…everyday should be National Dance Day!”

National Dance Day was created by “So You Think You Can Dance” producer Nigel Lythgoe and takes place in the United States on the last Saturday in July. It was founded and officially recognized in 2010 when American congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton introduced a National Dance Day resolution to promote dance education and physical fitness. This annual event was launched after many successful seasons of Fox’s hit TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance.” The excitement for this fun-filled day takes the United States by storm every year!

Of course I am a big fan of this day as it invites communities and individuals to come together in creative expression. Any style of dance is encouraged and the more imaginative, the better.
Everyone CAN dance! It is all about people from
all walks of life coming together to produce masterpieces of physical and emotional expression.

Sooo…can I get a 5, 6, 7, 8…Whoop here it is!!! Dancinerate footage is HOT OFF THE PRESS from this year’s National Dance Day 2014 where we rocked one unforgettable event with the Blanks Studios at The Sherman Oaks Galleria. You must check it out now! If you like it, please share with your friends ASAP so we get everyone dancing! I always say that if the whole World was dancing we would be a much happier place. Now it is your turn…share if you agree with me! I would love to hear your comments below and tell me what did you do to celebrate National Dance Day! Thanks to Nigel Lythgoe and Dizzy Feet Foundation for making this event possible.

Happy viewing!

When You Think You Know Where You Are Going and Things Change…

When You Think You Know Where You Are Going and Things Change…

I don’t know about you but when I was a little girl (like most little girls) I planned out exactly what I wanted my life to be like. I would always dance around the house screaming, “My name will be in lights one day and I will dance and choreograph for all the big stars! Then, I will get married, be VERY successful, and have a family.” Isn’t that what every girl dreams about: her career, man of her dreams, white picket fence, and family?! Come on…you know that I am almost 100% right?!

Sometimes “your plan” doesn’t always turn out to be what you thought it would be or it does. Take me for example, I never thought that I would be a Dance and Fitness Expert and you know what??? I couldn’t be happier that I am and that I am beyond blessed how far I have come and where I am going.

I started dancing at age 3 and to this day (we won’t talk about my age now) I am still dancing! When I moved to Los Angeles 10 years ago, my plan was to be a back up dancer for Artists like Beyonce, Madonna, Missy Elliot, Britney Spears, etc. Then I wanted to be on TV shows like Glee and Old Navy Commercials and Films. My list was endless. I just wanted my talent to be recognized and would have no problem with fame! ☺ Being the motivated and unstoppable girl that I am, I hustled, I networked, I auditioned, I trained, etc. I did whatever I needed to do to get closer to my childhood plan. My determination, passion, training, and work ethic got me a lot. I soon found myself working with Celebrities like LeAnn Rimes, Rihanna, Christina Milian, etc. It was incredible however I still wanted more! I remember telling my sister that I booked this amazing show and her response was, “Why are you not more excited? This is outstanding news!” I responded, “I am happy however I want more!” She then said, “Oh gosh, I can’t wait to see what your reaction will be like when NYC Broadway calls you.” I then said, “Well Broadway would be an opportunity of a lifetime, however yes, I will want more after that too!” ☺ That is just my work ethic. It is called: Ilyse plans to climb her ladder to the moon and back again.

So as years went on living in LA, I started finding myself at auditions for fitness DVDs and fitness shows. I started booking a lot of work in the fitness industry working as back up talent. I was also teaching dance at the time and noticed that a lot of the dance fitness classes were missing something: ME! My career started shifting more into the Health and Fitness Industry and I loved it! I was blessed to meet and work with some amazing people who are now my best friends and mentors. Talk about climbing the ladder…these individuals are top of the top and I got to work with them.

At this point, I realized that my childhood plan was shifting a bit however my gut said, “GO WITH IT!” This was just another step up on my ladder. That was exactly what I did and WOW…I couldn’t be happier! I do what I love and love what I do EVERY single day of the week.

Life can do funny things to us sometimes and usually when you surround yourself with the right energy it always works out in a great way! Always trust your gut and stay positive. Keep your ears, eyes, and mind WIDE OPEN as you never know what you will hear, who you will see/meet, and what you can create. I say, “It is endless what “we” all can do and achieve!” Go for it all and #YoullThankMELater! It is ok if your childhood plan doesn’t work out the way you planned…remember that everything happens for a reason!

Now it is your turn…would you like to share your childhood plan? Did it turn out how you thought it would? Please feel free to comment below and share with your friends.

I Know It Sounds Crazy, But…Help Me Choreograph The Bachelor’s Wedding Dance!

I Know It Sounds Crazy, But…Help Me Choreograph The Bachelor’s Wedding Dance!

Hello to all you hopeless romantics out there (and yes, that includes Ilyse Baker)!

Monday night about 10 million viewers watched The Bachelor Season 17 finale to see if Sean Lowe was going to get down on one knee to propose to either Catherine Guidici or Lindsay Yenter.  I mean, what woman wouldn’t want to watch one sexy single guy (Hey Hilton, you’re still the sexiest guy I know!) seeking his future wife where the road to true love can be very surprising and even quite steamy?!  Come on…you know we American women buy into Reality TV all the time (how many guys out there are willing to admit they watch the show?  Hands up!)!

Hopeless Romantic

I didn’t get to watch this season from the beginning as I rarely have time for TV.  However, about 3 weeks ago I bonded with my sister Dayna over the show and got hooked.  So, along with ten million others, I invested 3 hours Monday night to find out what Sean would do, and admit shedding tears throughout the show.

Oy, I am such a hopeless romantic!  :)

I loved that Catherine gave Sean little notes here and there telling him what was on her mind.  Not like I’d do anything like that; right Hilton!?!  :)

My Fantasy

I’m so enamored with this couple that I fantasized “what can I do to help them?” and decided I wanted to choreograph their wedding dance.  Simple idea, huh? I’m the right person for it, huh?

So, after watching After the Final Rose, where Sean said they were planning a quick wedding, I got right on Twitter to tweet away to Sean and Catherine, congratulating them and also letting them know that I would be happy to choreograph their wedding dance.  Good start…huh?!

Then Tuesday I wake up and see that it was announced on Good Morning America that Sean will be joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars this season with dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd.  Sooo…now what, as I am sure he can get any of the Pros to choreograph for him?  Nooooo nooooo I LOVE my idea and am sticking to it.  Sean will be busy getting incredible training from Peta so who will Catherine have to train her for their big day?  What about her???????  Who will work with her???????

Help Me Help Catherine (and Sean)!

Here’s where you can help! If you agree that Catherine should take dance classes and training from me, it’s just a matter of how I get to Sean and Catherine.  Ok…I am still thinking out of the box about it and trying to work my magic.  In the meantime, all of YOU can help me with this new venture that I am pursuing so here is what I’d like you to do:

1)  Tweet away to: @SeanLowe99 @clmgiudici @chrisbharrison @ABCBachSeanLowe @BachelorABC letting them know that you know someone who would be great as Catherine’s Dance Trainer (yep, me!)

2)  Facebook away:  The Bachelor

3)  Email ABC and all Producers of both The Bachelor and Dancing With The Stars

4)  Comment below on my blog any ideas and feedback

5)  Share and spread the word to all you know

This could be lots of fun for everyone and, if I’m chosen, I’ll share everything I’m allowed with all of my readers so we can all follow this beautiful couple down the aisle and to their wedding day.

Thanks for all your help in helping make Catherine the best wedding dance partner ever!

xoxo,

ILYSE
